How to increase 'feel-good' hormones levels

1. Exercising

Exercise increases dopamine D2 receptors in the brain. It can also increase serotonin, and endorphins in the body as well. Regular exercise can help prevent depression, reduce stress, and strengthen the mind just as much as it strengthens the body.

2. Making a List and Crossing Off Your Accomplishments

The brain releases dopamine when we successfully accomplish a task – regardless of how big or small. Therefore the importance of breaking up big tasks into smaller pieces, and check them off one by one. This habit keeps you moving toward your goals and reduces the mental clutter in your mind.

3. Eating Dopamine-Increasing Foods

The essential amino acid tyrosine is a precursor for dopamine. By eating foods that contain tyrosine, you can naturally boost dopamine levels. Find tyrosine in things like:

  • Eggs

  • Green tea

  • Milk

  • Watermelon

  • Coffee

  • Almonds

  • Bananas

  • Dark Chocolate

  • Yogurt

4. Reducing Your Lipopolysaccharides

This is basically an endotoxin that has a detrimental effect in your immune system. Lipopolysaccharides also inhibit the production of dopamine in your body.  When we eat foods that protect the gut, such as yogurt, kefir, kimchi, and taking probiotics, we can lower your lipopolysaccharides, which will allow dopamine to be produced.

5. Detoxifying

It is crucial to regularly detox. The consistent accumulation of toxins in our body can prevent dopamine production. There are several ways of detoxing, from green juices to taking to doing a yogic master cleanse. The less toxins you have, the higher your dopamine levels can get.
